Notes about the everglade forest #36 :

    The young adult Stryx's hunt went well. The bird left half of a rabbit's corpse. It has four huge claw marks on it that must have tore it open when he got caught. Looks like the Stryx didn't pay attention to this half and left it. He must have chased the rabbit just for the thrill of it.

    I shall take the corpse to study it a bit closer.

    Felicity followed the tracks he left : footsteps, feathers, some guts spilled on the grass... She often visited the everglade forest as it was the territory of a young, very active Stryx, the animal was a perfect subject for the girl. While she had never seen the dragon for real, she had collected lots of information about the bird and very much enjoyed taking notes about him.
    Will Felicity one day meet the bird ? Oh no, she couldn't even dare dreaming of such an opportunity, her heart would stop from the overwhelming excitment she would get as soon as she would see the majestic creature.    She wasn't like that bird, she was shy, she wasn't daring, she never did anything truly sensational in her 18 years of existence. Sure, she loved studying Stryxes, but the closest she has ever been to them was with a dead one, his bones, in a museum.

    In her city, Felicity saw many riders with their companions, all of them strongly bonded with friendship and love. It was fun at first, to interview them about their experience with Stryxes, but as time went by, it only made Felicity realise how much she had missed by being a coward. Those thoughts of incompetence mixed with frustration and fear had never left her head.

    She stopped chasing the bird's tracks, leaned on a tree, and sighed heavily, letting herself fall on the grass.

    It was still very early in the morning, and she was already depressed.

    Usually, Felicity would moan for half an hour, but today, she heard's someone else's lament.

    She heard the desperate call of a baby Stryx for it's parents.

    The sad thoughts went shut for a moment. Felicity hid herself in the grass. Slowly, she crept on the ground, getting closer to the sound, and, finally, she found a little nest, hid in a narrow hole, away from malicious eyes.
    In it, there was a young, baby girl Tyto crying for food.

    Felicity immediatly drifted away from the nest, only to hid in a nearby bush.

    « Oh dear Galyx! A nest ! A baby Tyto ! I will see the parents feed the baby, and this upclose ! It will be so amazing. » Until now, the girl had only seen such scenes in old, worn books. Her heart had never ever beaten so fast before, and her smile couldn't disappear.

    Or so she thought.

    Minutes went by, then hours, then, night approached.
    Still nothing, just the cries of a starving Tyto.

    Why ? She looked healthy, and she sure can scream alright, even her colors match those of the forest, this baby is the best you could get !

    The best you could get...

    At this rate, a wolf would feast on the bird before she gets anything in her mouth.

    Felicity hesitated.
    Her heart raced even faster.

    Then, she leaped straigth to the nest and took out the rabbit's corpse.

Boop boop! Never really tried writing a text in english sooo, this one went really badly ahah. Pardon the french, baguette girl that I am. Still, kinda gives a story to those two little girls.
Also, first time I think I nailed a human! Am proud.

Meeka perceive's Felicity as her mother, as the bird has very little memories of her real parents. Felicity feels the same! Meeka is her little baby girl . This encounter will help Felicity growing out of her shell as she will begin to be more daring and bold in order to take good care of Meeka.
Plus, Felicity studies to become an onirthologist, Meeka will be a great help for that! Over time, those two will be less about watching birds and more about adventures and discoveries.

Also, sorry for your eyes with the times in the text, I'll get better .-.
